As we embark on the festive season that is filled with caffeine, mulled wine and all things fine, we can easily forget about our long term goals for healthy looking skin by indulging in our short term urges.

Here are some quick and easy tips to allow you to live the best of both worlds through to the New year.

Drink water infused with lemon slices-

It may sound incredibly simple and you may already know citrus fruits, like lemons, contain a high dose of vitamin C, but that's not all. Lemons are also a primary antioxidant that helps protect cells from damaging free radicals. Free radicals are unstable atoms that can damage cells, causing illness and increased aging. Additionally, vitamin C also plays a role in helping your body sustain collagen, promotes absorption of iron, and encourages a production of healthy hormones. So, when you increase your Vitamin C levels you're actually helping to prevent ageing within your body, best get slicing and drink up!

Check your skin-care routine is working for you-

With the seasons taking a dramatic turn, you may find your skin is following suit with a lack of hydration and dryness.

By changing your cleanser to a mousse or milk based cleanser enables your skin to be soothed with nourishment at the first step of your skin-care routine. Ensure you're still using an exfoliator at least 3 times a week and if need be, switch it to a gentle buffer if you have an increase of skin sensitivity. If you feel your skin is too sensitive to use a buffing exfoliator, an exfoliating masque containing glycolic or lactic acid may be a better suit as they usually contain enzymes that gently eat away at unnecessary dead skin cells, meaning no abrasive scrubbing is involved.

The key take way with seasonal dry skin is, no matter what serum or cream you apply, if it's applied to dry skin it will not be able to penetrate to the subcutaneous layer of the skin where the collagen and elastin cells renew, which is vital for prolonging ageing.

Hyaluronic acid

If lack of hydration is an all year concern for your skin, stop what you're using and switch to a product that is infused with hyaluronic acid. This game changing ingredient is able to hold 1000 times it's weight in hydration.

Within the Decleor range there is the antidote daily concentrate. A skin prepping serum that reduces water loss, strengthens skin and protects it from daily aggressions like harsh elements and pollution. Clinically proven to boost radiance in skin.
